About Sellwood

Sellwood, or Sellwood-Moreland, was initially established as its own city and was set to rival quickly growing Portland across the river. However, 125 years later one would be hard-pressed to find a more quintessentially Portland neighborhood as Sellwood. Of course, in Portland each neighborhood has its own vibe and personality, which is accented by unique bars, restaurants and outdoor activities. Sellwood is perhaps less edgy than the historically hip downtown Pearl District or the recently trendy and artsy areas of Alberta in North Portland, offering instead a chill Portlandia charm that appeals to families and college students alike.

In addition to a diverse range of places to chow down, Sellwood is home to some of Portland’s most delightful green spaces. Shops, bars and restaurants are clustered along the streets of 13th or Milwaukee, with the majority of the neighborhood made up of eclectic and colorful homes and sprawling parks. Sellwood is located just across the river from bustling downtown Portland and borders quirky Woodstock and Reed College – offering no shortage of activities within and nearby the neighborhood. Portland’s light rail (the MAX) also has a station in Sellwood, offering easy transit all over Portland.
